SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Utah men's golf team closed out action at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate with a 9th-place finish on Sunday, carding a three-round score of 20-over 884 (298-295-291) at Scottsdale's Outlaw Course.
Tournament host Michigan took first-place with a score of 13-under (851) and Northwestern followed with a second-place finish after posting a score of 11-under (853). Alabama finished in third-place with a score of 7-under (857). Kansas and Purdue rounded out the top-five tying for fourth place with a final score of 4-under (860).
Freshman
Jordan Costello led the Utes finishing in a tie for 18
th-place, carding a three-round score of 1-over 217. Sophomore
Kyler Dunkle followed in a tie for 32
nd, finishing 5-over 221.
Senior
Gentry Hicks tied for 34th at 6-over 222, while freshman
Mitchell Schow tied for 49th overall with a three-round score of 11-over 227. Sophomore
Nathan Wunderli rounded out Utah's scoring at 13-over 229 and finishing in a tie for 53rd overall.
The Utes will have a week off before returning to action Mar. 18-19 at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Arizona State University. The tournament will take place at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona.
