SALT LAKE CITY— The University of Utah women's tennis lost to No. 42 Oregon this afternoon, 4-0.
In doubles competition,
Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa and
Whitney Turley won a close match over Nia Rose and Marlou Kluiving, 6-4, in the No. 3 spot.
Margo Pletcher and
Brianna Turley came back to tie their match at 4-4 in the No. 1 spot and pulled ahead 6-5 before Shweta Sangwan and Julia Eshet tied the score at 6-6. The Ducks clinched the doubles point after a hard-fought win during a tiebreak, 9-7.
In singles play, the Ducks won three singles matches to secure the victory.
Brianna Turley and
Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa each took tough defeats, 6-2, 6-3 while
Whitney Turley fell to Marlou Kluiving in a difficult 6-3, 7-5 loss.
The Utes travel to face Denver on Apr. 18 before their Senior Day at the Eccles Tennis Center vs. Colorado on Apr. 22 at noon.
