OJAI, Calif. - Utah Women's Tennis won its opener at the Pac-12 Championships this afternoon with a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Arizona

The Utes rallied to win their final three singles matches to overturn a deficit and advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals vs. No. 1 Stanford at 3 p.m. PT

Whitney Turley showed the fighting spirit of the Utes, taking the second and third sets of her singles match, 6-4, 6-4 to seal victory for her team.

The day started well for Utah as it cruised to a doubles point.
Taylor Calton teamed with Cheng to win their match, 6-2 and Turley paired with
Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa for a 6-3 victory.

As singles play got underway, Utah's top two players,
Margo Pletcher and
Brianna Turley were handed difficult losses and the Utes fell behind on the afternoon, 2-1

However, the tide started to turn when Gerstner Da Rosa used her senior skill set to her benefit in defeating freshman Marie Van Aelst, 6-3, 6-1.

Alexia Petrovic got Utah back in the driver's seat when she topped Samantha Czarniak, 6-4, 6-2 and with a pair of matches going to a third set, it was Turley's victory that wrapped things up for the Utes.
