LOS ANGELES - Utah Diving concluded a successful weekend at the UCLA Diving Invitational as freshman
Nathan Makarewicz finished third in the one-meter event.
Makarewicz had the top score of any diver during the final (347.05), which moved him up to his final positioning. The other two Ute competitors also improved upon their preliminary scores as
Jenner Pennock moved up to eighth and
Daniel Theriault bumped up to 11
th overall.
On the platform,
Nicole Ford finished in 12
th place with a cumulative score of 420.30.
"Nicole had a really nice platform event and I am proud of how she performed in the final after a long week of competition," head coach
Richard Marschner said. "Nathan's scores in the final were the highest of the round but he was just a little too far back after the prelims to make up the gap."
The Utes are back in action on Saturday at Denver. Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete against the Pioneers.
