SALT LAKE CITY– The Utah women's cross country team travels to Stanford, Calif., to compete at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships this Friday Oct. 26. The meet will take place at the Stanford Golf Course with the women's 6k set to start at 11:10 a.m. (PST). This is the 14th time this venue has hosted the women's race since its debut in 1986.
Utah will send a total of 10 runners to compete at the Pac-12 Championships. Running for the Utes this Friday will be:
Aubrey Argyle,
Scarlet Dale,
Sarah Feeny,
Sarah Newton,
Natalie Platil,
Kennedy Powell,
Sophie Ryan,
Sadie Wassum,
Bella Williams, and
Cara Woolnough.
All 10 runners have competed in at least one race this season and Friday's competition will mark Powell's fifth appearance of the season. Argyle, Dale, Feeny, Newton, Platil, Ryan, and Woolnough will be making their fourth appearances while Wassum will be making her third of the season. Williams made her season debut running unattached last weekend at the Utah Open capturing the race title in dominating fashion.
Utah will be competing against some tough competition as four Pac-12 teams come in ranked inside the top-16 in the nation. Notable teams include No. 1-ranked Colorado, No. 4 Oregon, meet host No. 6 Stanford, and No. 16 Washington. Colorado looks defend its title as they are the three-time defending conference champions.
Last time out, the Utes captured third place at their only home meet of the season the Utah Open. Utah finished with a total of 70 team points. No. 9 BYU took home the team title finishing with 23 total team points and No. 27 Utah State placed second with 39 total team points.
Emma Christensen lead the Utes finishing in 11th place overall. Williams ran unattached and finished in first place overall.
The 2018 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships will air live on the Pac-12 Networks. The telecast is set to begin at 11 a.m. with Jim Watson calling the action and Dwight Stones providing color commentary.
