LAS VEGAS - The Utah women's swimming and diving team defeated UNLV this evening.
"I am really proud of the team's performance," head coach
Joe Dykstra said. "After another difficult week of training and a six hour bus ride, we came out swinging with the relay performances. It was great to pick up another road win."
Tonight's meet started with a solid performance in the 400 medley relay as
Audrey Reimer,
Darby Wayner,
Aryanna Fernandes and
Gillian St. John went top in 3:44.71.
Reimer and Wayner continued their success in the individual events with the freshman winning the 200 back in 2:01.67 and the senior taking the 200 breast in 2:18.58. St. John was Utah's top performer in the 50 free (3
rd, 23.59) and Fernandes could say the same after the 100 free (3
rd, 51.97).
Senior
Jordan Anderson, the school record holder in the 400 IM, clocked in at 4:22.95 to capture first place.
Emma Lawless was victorious in the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.87 and sophomore
Sara McClendon endured the 1000 free and came away with another win for the Utes in 10:22.76.
On the boards,
Clare Greenlow picked up another top result with a score of 259.75 in the three-meter event.
Rounding out the evening,
Ianire Casarin was back in the pool and took a runner-up spot in the 200 free (1:50.39) and
Kristina Miletic did the same in the 500 (5:08.13).
The divers are back in action next weekend at the USC Invitational while the swimmers will travel to the Minnesota Invitational at the end of the month.
