 Game Notes: fill in here
Utah Vault Notes: I thought Missy Reinstadtler's vault was totally clean but
Jen White said she had a little slide on the landing.
That was one of the best vaults I've seen Kari Lee do. Great in the air,
stuck landing. Tiffani Lewis had another big vault but didn't quite hold the landing completely. Kim Tessen stumbled back, flailed trying to stay up, but fell backwards
on her landing. MaKenna Merrell-Giles also failed to stick her landing, taking a step back
and to the side.
Beautiful vault by MyKayla Skinner. Great flight, amplitude, distance and stick.
Not much to find wrong with that 10.0 valued vault.
Utah Bar Notes: Tiffani Lewis moved really well, nice release moves, stuck her dismount.
Didn't quite get straight on her handstands. Close, but not perfect.
Pretty routine and nice stuck dismount by MaKenna Merrell-Giles. I wonder if the deduction
came when she paused a little on the low bar heading into her finale.
Both Missy Reinstadtler and Kari Lee were great on the bars but had steps back
on their dismounts. Kim Tessen's routine was a beauty. She did a little windmill with her arms while
standing on the low bar, but didn't move her body at all. Finished strong. MyKayla Skinner almost tipped over on her mount when she overcasted. She stayed
aboard and the rest of the routine was clean with a stuck dismount, but the damage was done.
Utah Beam Notes: Maddy Stover worked double duty on that routine. Went up during
raucous UCLA cheering. Missed a connection the first time, but added another one to
get her full credit. Good start.
Just a stunningly beautiful beam routine from MaKenna Merrell-Giles. Great lines,
leaps, nailed her flight series, stuck her landing. Wow!
And a nice routine from freshman Alexia Burch under massive pressure.
I'm not sure where her deductions were since I'm not an expert, but
she looked really clean and stuck her dismount.
Another beauty by Kari Lee. I'm guessing the deduction came on her landing,
which was oh-so-close to a stick. She looked flawless to me up on the beam.
Proud of Missy Reinstadtler on that routine. She didn't let a couple of little
imperfections early get into her head.
And what a finish by MyKayla Skinner. She shows no nerves and clinches the Utah
win with a 9.925.
Utah Floor Notes: Tiffani Lewis hit all her tumbling pretty cleanly. Her deduction came
on a leap and she could have sold her last pass a little better.
Pretty routine by Kari Lee and one judge liked it for a 9.95. I'm thinking the other
judge counted her down for sliding out a bit on the first tumbling pass.
That was a great routine by Missy Reinstadtler. One of the best I've ever seen
her do. She absolutely stuck her final piked double back cold. Sydney Soloski had a nice routine going until she fell on her final tumbling
pass. She also had a small step on her first pass landing the double layout.
Really a stunning floor routine by MaKenna Merrell-Giles. Her tumbling,
leaps, landings, dance .... all of it beautiful.
I swear some day MyKayla Skinner is going to get that 10.0. She had
a worthy routine today for sure and one judge gave it to her. But hey,
a 9.975 is pretty darn good and a great finish to a great floor set.
