Faust and Newton earn new personal bests.
PALO ALTO, Calif. – Junior Caitlin Faust highlighted the second day of competition at the Stanford Invitational with an 11th-place finish and a new personal best in the 800-meter event on Saturday.
"Exciting day, we only had four races but certainly an exciting day," head coach Kyle Kepler said. "Again, we continued to move forward, continued to improve and get better and it's really exciting to see. We're just really proud of all the kids that competed this weekend and it was really fun to get everyone out on the track."
Faust led the way for the Utes in the 800-meter race with an 11th place finish and a time of 2:07.90. This is a new personal best for Faust and moves her into sixth place all-time at Utah. Sophomore Sarah Newton finished in 25th with a new personal-best time of 2:09.43 (which ranks 10th all-time at Utah) while senior Grace Englund placed 38th with a time of 2:10.82.
Senior Alissa Atisme competed in the 200-meter dash where she placed ninth with a time of 24.36.
The Utes will be back in action next weekend at home for the Utah Spring Classic on Friday and the Wildcat Invitational hosted on Saturday hosted by Weber State.
