FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Utah Diving had two competitors reach tonight's final of the three meter and
Nathan Makarewicz earned a top-10 finish for the Utes.
After a score of 328.30 in the prelims, Makarewicz was joined in tonight's final by
Jenner Pennock. The freshman stepped up with a score of 317.85 and jumped to 13
th overall.
"I'm extremely pleased with everyone's effort," coach
Richard Marschner said. "Jenner making a final at Pac-12's, let alone Zones, was definitely something I did not expect this year. He has been amazing the past few weeks. Nathan also had a great event and is set up to qualify for NCAA's in a pair of events."
In the women's one meter, freshmen
Clare Greenlow (246.55) and
Emma Ruchala (243.00) both finished in the top 30
"We had a very solid day, all around," Marschner added. "It was great to see Clare and Emma perform with poise in their first zone meet and to finish in the top half of the field. They are building a good base for what they can achieve in the coming years."
The Zone E Diving Championships continue tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the women's three-meter prelims. followed by the finals at 2:35 p.m. The men's one-meter events start at 5:35 p.m. with the finals at 7:20 p.m.
