Utes Drop Match to No. 49 Washington

SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Utah women's tennis team ended their road trip today, falling to the 49th ranked University of Washington with a score of 0-4. With this loss, the Utes move to an overall record of 9-9, with a record of 1-5 in Pac-12 conference play.
The Huskies got up early against the Utes by earning the doubles point. On the No. 1 court, Alexia Petrovic and Jena Cheng and fell short to No. 32 Miki Kobayashi and Vanessa Wong, 1-6. Brianna Chisholm and Victoria Robertson were then defeated at the No. 3 spot by Stacy Fung and Katarina Kopcalic, 3-6, allowing Washington to win the doubles point.
Then in singles, Chisholm was unable to card a victory at the No. 2 position against No. 62 Vanessa Wong, dropping the match with a score of 3-6, 0-6. On the No. 6 court, Robertson then fell to Washington's Katarina Kopcalic 1-6, 0-6. Then to clinch the match for the Huskies, Alexia Petrovic was unable to defeat No. 16 Stacy Fung at the No. 1 spot, as she fell to Fung with a score of 3-6, 0-6.
The Utah women's tennis team will be back in action this week for three home matches at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The first one will come against in-state rival Brigham Young University, as they will battle the Cougars for the Deseret Duel on Wednesday, April 4th, at 3 p.m.
They will then host two Pac-12 conference matches during the weekend, first taking on No. 14 UCLA on Friday, April 6th, at 1:30 p.m. Followed by a match against No. 39 USC on Sunday, April 8th, at 11 a.m.
