Anae and Barton register pair of wins, but Utes Fall Twice on Sunday

Utah drops matches to #6 LBSU and #16 LMU

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Utah beach volleyball team wrapped up competition at the Long Beach State Tournament going 0-2 on the day, falling to both No. 6-ranked Long Beach State and No. 16-ranked Loyola Marymount.

Utah, who went 2-3 overall on the weekend, will head into the final week of the regular season with an overall record of 2-8.

The Utes fell in five sets to the 49ers on Sunday, as the No. 1 pairing of Adora Anae and Dani Barton was the only duo to pick up a win. Anae and Barton paired up to defeat LBSU's No. 1 pairing of Nele Barber and Sasha Karelov in three sets (22-24, 21-18, 26-24).

Anae and Barton, again, were the only pairing to pick up a win in the final match of the day against LMU, as the duo teamed up to defeat McKayla Ferris and Savannah Slattery in straight sets (21-17, 21-14).

With Anae and Barton collecting a pair of wins on Sunday, the duo has now managed to register a total of five wins on the season, which surpasses their season total of three wins from a year ago.

Utah is back in action again next week with a single match at Grand Canyon on Thursday, April 19, and then competing in Arizona's Bear Down Bash, which will take place Friday and Saturday, April 20-21.
