Four Utes Named to Pac-12 Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team

Choy, Doehrmann, Barton and Oblad named to 2018 squad
SAN FRANCISCO – Utah beach volleyball student-athletes Bailey Choy, Brianna Doehrmann, Dani Barton and Berkeley Oblad have each been named to the 2018 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Friday.

Choy earned first team honors, while Doehrmann was a second team selection. Barton and Oblad were both named honorable mention selections.

This marks the first beach volleyball all-academic selections for Choy, Doehrmann and Barton. Meanwhile, Oblad is named to the beach volleyball all-academic team for a second straight season after earning honorable mention accolades in 2017.

Choy was part of five dual wins this season, while Doehrmann tallied a pair of dual wins. Barton led the team with 10 dual wins and Oblad tallied six dual victories.

Utah went 5-12 overall in just their second season in beach volleyball completion. The Utes won four regular season contests and tallied a win in the Pac-12 Championship.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 and appear in at least 50 of their team's games.
