Lacrosse Begins the 2018-19 School Year

As the 2018-19 school year begins on Monday, the Utah lacrosse team participated in its first Fanfest on Saturday, Aug. 18.
The Utes signed autographs, met fans and set up a goal to let fans test their shooting skills.

Earlier in August, the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Rules Committee recommended both a visible 60-second shot clock on every possession and rules changes to allow offenses more flexibility around the crease beginning with the 2019 regular season. Read the full release here. The changes still need to be approved by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Committee, but our assistant coaches are fans.
Speaking of our assistant coaches, they all finished up their Major League Lacrosse seasons recently. Will Manny and the New York Lizards won their final game of the season to reach the playoffs. Manny was a nominee for the 2018 MLL Man of the Year Award, named the New York Lizards Offensive Player of the Year and was on the Inside Lacrosse MLL Team of the Season. He ranked second in the league in points (62) and goals (41, tie).
Adam Ghitelman ranked second in MLL in goals allowed average (12.12) for the Atlanta Blaze. He went viral earlier this summer with this ridiculous save.
After his run with Team USA at the FIL World Championships, Marcus Holman returned to the Ohio Machine and finished the season with a team-high 48 points, which tied for 10th in the league. He also led the team with 31 goals and 15 assists.
The entire Holman family also took a little time for a quick vacation break.
We're currently finalizing our 2019 schedule and preparing for tryouts, we'll have both a schedule and a roster for you coming up in September. Go Utes!
