Kyle Kepler announced that Kolbi Sims has been added to the 2018-19 roster. Sims, a native of Eagle, Idaho, is transferring to the U following three seasons at San Jose State.

"We are excited to add a talented and versatile student-athlete in Kolbi to our program," said Kepler. "We believe she can make an immediate impact for us at both the conference and national level, as she continues to develop into an elite, multi-event athlete."

Sims will compete primarily in the heptathlon for the Utes. She finished second overall in heptathlon competition at the Mountain West Conference Championships a year ago, scoring a new personal best total of 5,402 points. She tallied personal bests in 2017-18 in the long jump (19' 4.25", 5.90m), high jump (5' 6.5", 1.69m), and 100m hurdles (14.17).

In 2016-17, Sims produced SJSU's second-best indoor pentathlon effort with 3,445 points at the MWC Championships and would later go onto score 5,045 in the MWC Championships in the heptathlon. In her first season at SJSU (2015-16), she competed in seven indoor events and eight different outdoor events.

A 2015 graduate of Eagle High School, Sims was the 2015 Idaho State champion in the long jump with a mark of 18' 9.75". She was also a two-time Oregon Relays champion in the long jump and high jump. While attending Thomas Stone High School in Maryland, she was a 3A champion in the 400m.
