The Utah lacrosse team had a strong week of practice as it continues to prepare for its first game.
"I was really happy," Utah head coach Brian Holman said. "I thought they maintained their energy and effort for the whole week, which was what we were looking for. It's easy to come out on the first day and everyone is hooting and hollering. From Friday to Friday, we had very little dips in the energy, the attention and the effort. All-in-all I would give us a thumbs up for the week."
Holman stresses that there is still plenty he knows the Utes need to work on as we continue to prepare.
"We have to start to determine lines offensively, who is going to run with who, and working on some cohesiveness in our lines and our rotations," Holman said. "Defensively, same thing. Who are going to be our short sticks that are going to be on the field together? We start working on more unity within the units, so we're going to look for that next week. We still have to do a better job in pressure situations. Today we played a 12-minute quarter and got to overtime, and got to two overtimes, but in that first overtime period, we committed five turnovers. That can't happen. So what are we doing there that isn't allowing us to play? We need to continue to work on the little things – our spacing on offense, our communication on defense, and just really trying to tighten up all the way around the field."
