SALT LAKE CITY - Utah's diving team started the Deseret First Duel this evening against BYU.
With seniors
Daniel Theriault,
Makenzie Caufield and
Madison Cock competing for the final time this weekend, the Utes performed well.
"I was really happy that Daniel had a good night and Clare and Emma were able to record personal bests," head coach
Richard Marschner said. "It was a special night and with Clare qualifying for Zones, we hope to have another good day tomorrow."
Emma Ruchala won the women's three meter with a score of 306.38 and
Clare Greenlow was second, qualifying for NCAA Zones with a dive that scored 305.93.
For the men,
Tony Chen took second in the one meter during his first home meet with a score of 320.33 and
Rylan Little was third with a score of 319.73.
The Utes and Cougars start competition tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in Don Reddish Pool.
