Utah Vault Notes: I confess that I am baffled at the deductions on
Kari Lee's vault. Perhaps
she didn't get enough height. My angle isn't great. She stuck her landing beautifully. Another
big vault by
Macey Roberts. My expert commentator today is
Carly Dockendorf and she said
Macey had a teeny step on her landing.
Alexia Burch had a small step on her landing. I can't
tell from this angle what other deductions she had in flight. Great, big 10.0 valued vault by
MaKenna Merrell-Giles but she couldn't quite hold the landing without a step back. This time
MyKayla Skinner did have a hop after her Yerchenko double twist and the judges hit her for it.
Kim Tessen was a last second add to the lineup and it was her first vault of the season. She
had great amplitude and distance, but lots of steps on her landing.
Utah Bar Notes: Nice start by
Kim Tessen. Her deductions came on a small hop on her landing
and she wasn't quite vertical on her final handstand.
Hunter Dula had just beautiful handstands. She
was great up on the bars but had soft knees and a step on her landing. Nice routine by
MaKenna Merrell-Giles.
I'm guessing she must have not quite hit a handstand for the tenth deduction. Nailed her landing. Missy
Reinstadtler's bar routine was crazy good. Major amplitude on her release move, beautiful handstands, stuck
dismount after sailing to the moon. Solid routine by
Cristal Isa. Didn't quite go vertical on a handstand and had
a small step back on her landing. Perfect looking routine by
MyKayla Skinner so don't ask me what the dismount
was. Beautiful everything and big dismount with stuck landing.
Utah Beam Notes: Just a beautiful beam routine by
Shannon McNatt but she got hit with a not up to the level by one judge.
Really nice ring and sheep jumps, no balance checks, stuck dismount..
Alexia Burch fell on her flight series. Really nice
routine by
MaKenna Merrell-Giles and she had a great stick on her dismount. She had a little balance check after her
flight series and I'm guessing that was the tenth deduction. Clean, steady routine with a nice flow to it by
Kari Lee. I think her
dismount is very cool. Another clutch beam routine by freshman
Adrienne Randall, who looks like she was born to do beam.
Her deductions came on a small balance check (that she didn't look like she needed) out of her series and a step on her dismount.
MyKayla Skinner's routine was simply stunning. Her only minor error was a tiny step after a huge, high-flying double back
dismount. She is just crazy good.
Utah Floor Notes: Wow, one judge gave
Macey Roberts a 9.90 for that beautiful routine, but the other a 9.75.
It will be interesting to hear what we learn on an inquiry. My guest expert Carly gave it a 9.90.
Kari Lee's landings
were all nice. I'm guessing the deductions came for crossed legs.
Alexia Burch made a nice season floor debut.
Her deductions came on her second tumbling pass when her front foot slid a bit and possibly something on her
last tumbling pass like split legs maybe. Awesome routine by
Sydney Soloski for a career tying 9.925. Her double
layout was huge and she stuck it cold. Her leaps were all good and she hit all of her tumbling passes. Really fun
routine too. Good job by choreographer
BJ Das.
MaKenna Merrell-Giles went back to the routine she used the
last two years and her full in pike was huge. The deduction was likely on a leap.
MyKayla Skinner was initially
supposed to sit out of floor exercise this meet, but she insisted she wanted to compete it. Her deductions came
on her biggest tumbling elements, the famed double double and her ending full in, which were both a little low.
