SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Ken Garff Performance Zone at Rice-Eccles Stadium will open in 2021 and the sales process will soon begin for the new premium experiences the project will create in the south end zone of the stadium.
A dedicated website,
www.KenGarffPerformanceZone.com, has launched and outreach to season ticket holders and donors has begun. The much-anticipated project that will enclose the south end of Rice-Eccles Stadium, add unique premium spaces to the venue and increase capacity to 51,444 was announced in November 2018. In April 2019 the Garff family generously pledged $17.5 million toward the $80 million project that will transform the home of Utah football and provide a world-class student-athlete experience.
"We are excited to begin the next phase of this important and transformational project for Utah Athletics," said
Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics. "Our terrific supporters are integral to everything we do, and we are pleased to share the vision for the future of Rice-Eccles Stadium through the addition of the Ken Garff Performance Zone. This new facility is a game-changer for Utah Football and for all of our athletics teams as we continue to chase championships and create the best experience for our student-athletes."
The Ken Garff Performance Zone will replace the current Clark Building, constructed in 1988, and will add to both student-athletes' and fans' experience at Rice-Eccles Stadium. It will provide the Utes' football program an upgraded locker room, training room and equipment room; new locker room for the visiting team and officials, and provide upgraded food and beverage options, as well as other amenities. The project also includes both a suite-level club and a field-level club that will enhance the game-day experience and provide unique premium space for events year-round.
Crimson Club members and season ticket holders will receive buying opportunities in the Ken Garff Performance Zone based on annual giving priority. Current south end zone season ticket holders will receive high priority in the process regardless of giving level.
Another exciting and important aspect of the sales process is the creation of the Ken Garff Performance Zone Preview Center, which will open soon adjacent to the stadium's ticket office. The Preview Center will feature the latest images of the project along with technology and mock-ups to paint a complete picture of the expansion and the premium spaces it will provide. It will serve as a space to meet with loyal supporters to visualize the impact this project will have on the University of Utah and the community for years to come.
To receive priority in the Ken Garff Performance Zone at Rice-Eccles Stadium seating process one must be a Crimson Club member and/or football season ticket holder. Those eligible will continue to have opportunities to improve their ranking either by increasing giving to Utah Athletics through the Crimson Club (
