TUCSON – The Utah baseball team dropped the second game of the series to the Arizona Wildcats 8-0 on Saturday, March 16 at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Arizona.
Arizona struck early building a 3-0 lead in the first and then striking for four more runs in the third to push that lead to 7-0.
The Utes had base runners through the first four innings trying to cut into the Wildcats lead, but couldn't get any runs across. Arizona's starter settled in eventually, pitching a complete game holding Utah to no runs on six hits.
On the night offensively,
Rykker Tom went 2-4 at the plate with two singles. Four other Utes had one hit.
Jacob Rebar came in from the bullpen and pitched 4.2 innings and had five strikeouts for the Utes. He only gave up one run on three hits. The 4.2 innings was a season high for Rebar.
Riley Pierce took the loss on the night moving his record to 1-3 on the season. He only gave up three hits against Arizona, but two of those hits were home runs.
The Utes will go for the series win against Arizona on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. MT.
