Utes Welcome Ethan Macfarlane to Team Through Team Impact

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah baseball team officially added a new member to the team on Saturday, March 30 as Ethan Macfarlane signed his letter of intent.

The Utes and Ethan were connected through an organization called Team Impact.

"We are really excited on Ethan joining our team," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "It's going to be great having him around and it will be an experience of a lifetime for not only him but also all of the players."

Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston, MA that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes. Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 1,700 children with more than 500 colleges and universities in 49 states, reaching over 50,000 participating student-athletes.

Ethan was diagnosed in 2008 with a Congenital Heart Defect.

In a special ceremony, head coach Bill Kinneberg welcomed Ethan to the team and he signed his papers making him officially a Ute. Then, the team presented Ethan with his own jersey.

As a team member, Ethan will attend Utes practices, games, team dinners, events, and more.
