Baseball Drops Series Opener With USC, 6-0

Moeller Went 1-4 on the Night

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah dropped its series opening game to the USC Trojans 6-0 at Smith's Ballpark on Thursday, April 11.

The game was tight most of the way as starting pitcher Riley Pierce pitched 6.1 innings and only giving up three runs, but the USC pitchers were sharp too holding Utah to just one hit.

The Utes did draw six walks and had runners on base in six innings to put some pressure on the Trojans, but couldn't come up with the clutch hit to get a run across the plate.

Zack Moeller had Utah's hit in the third inning with a single to right field.

Austin Moore closed out the game for Utah pitching 1.2 innings and only gave up one hit.

The Utes will try and even up the series against the Trojans at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12.
