Rebar Pitched 6.1 Innings Allowing 1 Run on 4 Hits

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah baseball held a lead going into the eighth, but BYU's bats came alive leading to a comeback 10-3 victory on Tuesday, May 14 at Smith's Ballpark.

Starting pitcher Jacob Rebar went a strong 6.1 innings and only allowing one run on four hits.

Unfortunately for the Utes, once the Cougars got Rebar out of the game BYU scored nine runs in the eighth and ninth innings combined leading to their 10 runs.

The game was tight early as BYU scored first to take a 1-0 lead, but the Utes came right back to tie the game on an Oliver Dunn sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second.

The score remained 1-1 all the way until the bottom of the seventh when Zack Moeller and Shea Kramer hit back-to-back doubles to put Utah up 2-1.

In the top of the eighth, BYU tied up the score and then loaded the bases. They took the lead with a grand slam down the right field line.

Utah answered to score one run in the bottom of the eighth, but BYU added some insurance runs in the ninth to clinch the victory.

Dunn had two RBI with both coming on sacrifice flies. Four other Utes had multiple hits leading Utah to having 11 as a team.

The Utes will be back on the field this Thursday, May 16 hosting the Washington State Cougars at 11:30 a.m. in Smith's Ballpark. It will be Utah's final Pac-12 series of the season.
