SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah ski team will add five student-athletes for the 2020 campaign, three alpine skiers and two Nordic skiers.
On the alpine side two women join the team as Sona Moravcikova (Bratislava, Slovakia) transfers to Utah from New Mexico. She was second-team All-RMISA last year and finished 12th in the slalom and 14th in the giant slalom at the NCAA Championships. Mo Lebel (Truckee, Calif.) was the 2018 U.S. National Downhill Champion and finished third in the 2017-18 NorAm downhill standings. The Utes also add Gustav Vøllo (Hemsedal, Norway) on the men's side. He finished fifth in the giant slalom at the 2018 FIS Junior World Ski Championships and had top 15 finishes in the slalom and giant slalom at the 2019 Norwegian National Championships.
In Nordic, Luke Jager (Anchorage, Alaska) was a member of the 4x5-km relay team that finished first at the 2019 FIS Junior World Ski Championships, the first American gold in World Junior history. He was nominated to the 2019-20 U.S. Ski and Snowboard Development Team. Samuel Hendry (Canmore, Canada) won the 50-km classic at the 2019 Canadian National Championships. He was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team last year and is a member of the Senior Development Team for 2020.
