SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—Donations to the University of Utah Athletics department in 2018-19 reached record levels. Whether measured by gifts for capital projects or membership in the Crimson Club, support for Utah Athletics continues to grow significantly to enhance the experience for current and future Utah student-athletes.
Fundraising topped the $34 million mark for the 2019 fiscal year running from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, combining donations to the annual fund and all signed gift agreements. Annual fund donations exceeded $9 million for the first time, totaling $9.4 million in donations. Those donations were comprised of both scholarship seating and donations to the Crimson Club Excellence Fund that directly support the academic and competitive ambitions of more than 500 Utah student-athletes. Nearly 2,000 new Crimson Club members came on board in the last year to bring the total membership to more than 7,600.
"The University of Utah is a truly special place with passionate people who continue to invest in our student-athletes across all 20 sport programs," said Director of Athletics
Mark Harlan. "We are grateful for the support that was generated in the last year, and continue to focus on creating a vision for the future by fostering the best possible environment for student-athletes to thrive. Thanks to our donors, we will also continue to enhance and expand our facilities to support future growth for the next generation of Utah student-athletes."
Investments in capital projects to improve and expand athletics facilities on campus also saw major momentum from supporters in FY19, with $22.4 million in gift agreements. These projects include the Rice-Eccles Stadium expansion, the Dumke Gymnastics Center expansion, and a soon to be constructed new Golf Indoor Training Facility, among others.
