The Utah lacrosse team recently completed its second week of fall practice.
"I think they've gone great," head coach
Brian Holman said of the first practices. "I'm really proud of them. They earned the locker room today, which is part of our process here. Nothing is given and everything is earned. They've been on the field six days, and I would say five of those six were up to our standards. I'm proud of our older guys returning. They have really set the tone, and that's what we were trying to create. They've been great with the younger players. I like the mindset of this group so far. Now we'll move on to the next phase. I'm excited about where we're going."
Fall practice will continue through September and culminate in a Red/White scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 5.
"We'll continue to evaluate the kids and build on what we started," Holman said. "We'll work on getting a feel for our new kids – what their strengths and weaknesses are, how they like to play. We'll get into more full-field stuff - we've been doing a lot of stick work and conditioning. We're starting to see how the kids can adapt to a higher pace and then we will start to install some of our rides, clears and special teams stuff, little by little. Between now and the time we scrimmage, we'll have all the basics in. Next week is the moving forward phase."
Off the field we continue to work on finalizing the fall schedule, we hope to release that within the next few weeks.
