Starting Line
A short turnaround for the #22 University of Utah cross country team as they will make the trip up to Twin Falls, Idaho, to compete at the CSI (College of Southern Idaho) Invitational. The meet will take place on Friday, Sept. 6, at the Canyon Springs Golf Course and is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. (MDT) with the women's 5k race.

Christensen, Griffiths, Leonard and Moreno will be making their 2019 cross country debuts this Friday. Last season, Christensen competed in 4 meets and recorded her best finish at the Steve T. Reeder Invite in a PR time of 18:51.2. Griffiths competed in a total of 2 meets last year and registered her best finish of the season at the Sagebrush Invite with a time of 19:21.9. Leonard ran in 3 meets last season and recorded her best finish at the Battle of Beantown where she earned a new PR time of 18:58.3. Moreno did not compete last season but will be looking forward to getting back out there and performing at a high level.

According to the latest poll released by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association), the Utah women's cross country team came in with a ranking of #22 in the country and #4 in the Mountain Region. The Mountain Region is arguable one of the toughest regions in the country as it consists of 5 nationally ranked teams. Teams include: #1 Colorado, #2 New Mexico, #6 BYU, #22 Utah and #29 Air Force.
Last Time Out
The Utes competed at the UVU Invite where they were led by three true freshmen and finished in third-place overall as a team. Grace Burnett led the Utes finishing in seventh-place in a time of 19:10.3, while Karli Branch and Ellie Lundgreen finished one after the other in 11th and 12th-place, recording times of 19:13.5 and 19:14.8, respectively.
Sophomore Brooke Manson and senior Jade Mulvey were the last two scoring runners for the Utes as Manson earned a new personal-best time of 19:42.2 finishing in 18th while Mulvey placed 25th with a time of 19:58.6.
Southern Utah University captured the meet title with a total of 25 team points while meet host Utah Valley finished in second with a total of 46 team points. Utah placed third with 67 team points as Georgia State and Idaho State finished in fourth and fifth-place with a total of 116 and 118 team points, respectively.
