As we prepare for the lacrosse season, we'll get to know the newcomers on Utah's team. Today is Kellen Hoke from Sammamish, Wash.
What is your favorite lacrosse memory?
Winning the 4A Washington State Championship in 2017 with my older brother Conner.
What is your favorite sport besides lacrosse?
Hockey. I Played ice hockey until junior year of high school and miss the chippiness and the physicality of it.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to go boating (wakeboarding, surfing), go snowboarding, hike, go cliff jumping, and hang with the fellas.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose Utah because I believe in what the program can become and the phenomenal coaching staff that it has to offer. The U is also closer to the West Coast with tons to do outside and in surrounding areas. Utah has a great business and entrepreneurship program, as well as a Pac-12 DI football team. It's got everything.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The mountains and all the outdoor activities - snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking.
What are your goals for this year?
I want to contribute and help my team win a national championship.
What are your pregame superstitions?
I always eat a PB and J before the game and have some trail mix on the sidelines to snack on mid game. I always put gear on my left side first.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
Right now I am undecided between Business Entrepreneurship and Finance and also pursuing specialization in technology. After I graduate I might want to start my own company or get into the medical field working with medical devices.
Where do you most hope to travel/visit?
Bora Bora and Alaska.
If you could invite three people, dead or alive, to a dinner party, who would they be?
Kevin Hart, Kobe Bryant, and my buddy Jake.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Nothing in life worth doing is going to be easy.
