Another solid day on the track for Utah garnering more PR's and all-time performances.
LUBBOCK, Texas & SEATTLE — The University of Utah track and field team closed out the weekend at the Texas Tech and UW Invites on Saturday collecting more lifetime bests and moved more runners into the Utah all-time leaderboards. Â
Skyler Blair and Jasie York competed in the 200m for Utah finishing in 40th and 65th, respectively. Blair clocked a new PR of 24.86 to earn third in her heat and move her from fifth to second on the all-time list, topping current team Jackie Martin on the list. York also took third in her heat with a time of 25.63. Â
The highlight of the day in Texas came in the 4x400m race where the team made up of Lauren O'Banion, Blair, York and Martin posted a season's best time of 3:44.29 to win their respective heat and earn the ninth-place finish against a tough field. With the conversion, this time ranks third all-time in Utah history, topping the time of 3:44.98 the squad of Grace Englund, Jackie Martin, Caitlin Faust and Alissa Atisme posted back in 2018.Â

At the UW Invite, Whitney Hessler recorded a huge PR running under five minutes for the second time this season in the mile race. Hessler was the lone Ute in the field that totaled 60 runners and registered a time of 4:55.00 (30th).

In the 800m, Faust PR'd running a time of 2:08.06 for 13th and moved herself into eighth all-time while Brooklyn James won her heat with a PR Mark of 2:12.39, which was good for 28th overall. Kaitlyn Mercer also competed running a time of 2:14.85 for 41st.Â
Cara Woolnough led the Utes in her first 3k race, getting off to a rough start with an early fall, but still finished in 38th (9:42.12). Right behind Woolnough was Sophie Ryan, who also competed in her first 3k, and placed two-spots back in 41st (9:47.35). Not too far behind was Kennedy Powell, who ran a strong race by crossing the line in under 10 minutes for the first time (9:49.53).Â
Anna Busattor capped off the Utah entries, avoiding two runners who went down around her, and recorded a huge PR of 9:55.70 to finish in 54th. A 17 second PR for the senior from Treviso, Italy. Â Â Â
Utah wrapped up the UW Invite competing in the DMR posting a mark of 11:19.13 to capture third-place in a loaded field. Making up the DMR squad for the Utes was Sarah Newton, Faust, Brooke Manson and making her indoor debut Sarah Feeny. BYU took home the event title clocking a time of 10:53.95 while meet host Washington secured second in 10:56.23.Â
The Utes will be back in action Feb. 13-15, competing in three different meets taking place at the Don Kirby Invite (New Mexico), UW Husky Classic and just up the road in Ogden at the Weber State Invite.Â
