SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's tennis program announced the addition of rising junior Anastasia Goncharova to the 2020-21 roster Friday morning. Goncharova comes to the Utes after spending the first two seasons of her college career at UC Santa Barbara.

Our staff absolutely cannot wait to get on the court with her and continue her development process. We strongly believe we are getting her at a really good time and are very excited for her future here!"
The Evanston, Ill. native finished her sophomore campaign competing in the top doubles spot for the Gauchos and in the top four of the singles lineup. Notable wins came against San Diego, Nebraska, USC, and Miami while helping Santa Barbara achieve a top 50 national team ranking during the season.
During her freshman season at UCSB, Goncharova posted 10 dual match wins in doubles, including a 4-1 record from the No. 2 position. She also reached the semifinal of the prestigious Jack Kramer Invitational during the fall. In singles, Goncharova posted 9 wins overall, which included a 6-3 record in dual matches.
Prior to competing on the college stage, Goncharova was rated as high as a blue-chip junior player who ranked as high as the No. 3 player in Chicago and No. 5 in the Midwest. She was a top-30 recruit in the United States for the class of 2018 and had a career high UTR of 11.22. Goncharova won two ITA tournaments and took home the title of a USTA Level 2 Championship in March 2017.
Goncharova had a sensational career at Evanston Township High School where she won consecutive conference championships and posted back-to-back runner-up finishes at the ITSA State Tournament. She was a two-time Central Suburban League Most Valuable Player, as well as the winner of Class 2A Niles West Sectional Tournament.
Goncharova was born in Moscow, Russia and is the daughter of Svetlana Bolotova. She joins incoming freshman Tayla Whitehouse in this year's recruiting class. She will join the program this fall.
