Our second month of Utes Insider presented by Pepsi begins with
Hannah Flippen, a two-time Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year in softball who is vying for a spot on Team USA for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
The first three-time All-American in school history looks back on her career at Utah, which included three trips to the NCAA Tournament and back-to-back Super Regional appearances in 2016 and 2017. Flippen also talks about her playing experience with the U.S. National Team, which dates back to 2017. She earned a roster spot for the 2020 Olympics, which has been pushed back to July and August of 2021.

Flippen played at Utah from 2014-17 and joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2018. She became a full-time assistant in 2019 before relinquishing her duties prior to the start of the 2020 season in order to focus on training for the Olympics. She has been working with the Utah program as an assistant coach on an interim basis once again this summer.
Flippen set Utah's career records for runs, hits and batting average and was a four-time All-Pac-12 honoree. The second baseman became the first person in the history of the conference to win Pac-12 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in the same campaign.
Flippen graduated from the U in 2017 with a 3.59 GPA in psychology and received a postgraduate scholarship from the Pac-12 to pursue her master's degree at Utah. A three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection, she became Utah's first two-time Academic All-American and was a finalist for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year award after taking part in a number of social initiatives at Utah. Her mother, Mary Lou, was an All-American softball player at Utah State played a major role in developing Flippen in her younger years.
