Utah Lacrosse Drops Battle at #11 Loyola

Utah lacrosse lost at #11 Loyola Saturday afternoon, 20-8.
BALTIMORE – The Utah lacrosse team had eight different players find the back of the net, but fell to #11 Loyola Saturday afternoon at the Ridley Athletics Complex 20-8.
Utah looked like it weathered the storm in the first quarter after Loyola (2-1) went up 4-0 when Cole Brams took the faceoff win and gunned one into the goal for Utah (1-3) with 3:56 left in the quarter. Shortly thereafter, Tyler Bradbury connected with Drew Wasserman to cut the lead down to 4-2 heading into the second frame.
After an early goal by the Hounds, Bradbury made a beautiful pass to Peter Hagan cutting in front of the goal on the nearside to bring the Utes within 5-3 and 10:55 left in the half. However, the home team was able to string along three more goals before halftime as Utah trailed 8-3 heading into the break.
The Utes came out of the break aggressive and got back-to-back goals from Josh Rose and Branden Wilson in the opening three minutes to get within 8-5. The Hounds regrouped and answered with two goals of push the lead back up to 10-5. Drew Wasserman found MJ McMahon out of the faceoff win from Brams after Loyola's second score but the home team didn't waste time as it counted after missed shot by McMahon out of the faceoff.
Loyola put the pedal to the metal and showed why they were the 11th-ranked team in the final 15 minutes of play, outscoring the Utes 9-1 before Cole Ervin was able to get one past the keeper at the end in the 20-8 loss.
