THIS WEEK
The Utah Men's Golf team will be looking to build off their season momentum in their first of two final regular season tournaments, when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete in the Thunderbird Colligate. The two-day tournament will begin Friday, April 16 and end on Saturday, April 17.
THE FIELD
Utah will compete among a field of 16 teams which includes Arizona State, Arizona, Baylor, Colorado State, Iowa State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, South Florida, Texas Tech, TCU, UCLA and UNLV.
UTAH'S LINE-UP
The Utes' five-man lineup will consist of senior
Mitchell Schow, juniors
Tristan Mandur and
Blake Tomlinson, and freshmen
Javier Barcos and
Jesper von Reedtz.
COACHES THOUGHTS: Head Coach Garrett Clegg
"This will be the biggest challenge we have faced this spring. It will be a great event for the team as we prepare for the post season. We are looking forward to competing in the warm weather."
TOURNAMENT DETAILS
The Thunderbird Collegiate is a two-day tournament consisting of 54 holes, with 36 being played the first day and the final 18 on the second. The event will take place on April 16 and 17 with players teeing off at 7:00 a.m. PT on both days.
LAST TIME OUT
At the end of March, the Utes competed in the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational where they finished in third place after shooting even par (856). The event was held at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in Tacoma, Wash. where the Utes competed among a field of 15 teams. Leading the team was Tomlinson, who tied for second after shooting 4-under (210). Not far behind Tomlinson was his fellow junior Mandur who tied for eighth after shooting 1-under par (213). Barcos and Reedtz also competed in this tournament and both tied for 30
th while Schow tied for 38
th to round out the team.
