EUGENE, Ore. – The Utah track & field team got a chance to be a part of NCAA Track & Field history as they competed in the first meet of the newly reimagined Hayward Field Friday and also caught a little Hayward Magic along the way.

Whitney Hessler made history Friday evening becoming the first winner at Hayward Field since its renovation, capturing her heat in the 1500m with a career-best time of 4:28.57.
Sophie Ryan checked in with a time of 4:30.38 while
Anna Busatto just edged her PR with a time of 4:35.70.
Sarah Newton ran in the first heat that raced later in the evening and checked in at 4:30.75.

In her first 5k race as a collegian after wrapping up her first cross country season,
Morgan Jensen ran a 17:11.23 – which was good for the eighth-best time and third-fastest time for a freshman among the 12 racers.

Fresh off her All-American cross country season,
Poppy Tank not only crushed her previous PR by 22 seconds running in the 5k invitational with a time of 15:45.07 for second place but she also clocked the second-fastest time in program history.

Making her season debut in the 10k invitational,
Bella Williams did not disappoint and recorded the fastest 10k time in program history with a mark of 33:17.07 – beating out
Grayson Murphy's previous record of 33:17.85 set back on April 19, 2018.

Utah will have another day of racing at the Hayward Premiere with the sprint events starting at 2 p.m. (MT) while some members of the distance crew heads to Titan Stadium on the campus of Lane Community College for the NW Distance Jamboree hosted by Portland State starting at 6 p.m. (MT).
