Drake Relays Results Robison Invitational Results

The Utah track & field team competes well at both meets to start the weekend in Des Moines and Provo.

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Utah track & field team had a good start to the weekend at both the Drake Relays and Robison Invitational Friday.

Over on the Blue Oval at the Drake Relays, Utah's 4x100 crew qualified for the finals with a run of 46.72. Later in the day, the 4x800 crew claimed second against an Oklahoma State squad that came out with blazing speed in every relay event. The Women of Utah's mark of 8:53.26 was about 11 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher thanks to Brooke Manson's 2:06.96 split on the final leg.

Down south at the Robison Invitational hosted by BYU, Donna Ntambue started the day off for Utah and won her heat in the 100m with a mark of 12.12 to send her to the finals. In the 100m hurdles, Ruby Jane Mathewson clocked in at 14.49 for her second-fastest time and qualified for the finals as well.

For the fifth-consecutive week she's ran in, Salt Lake City native Bailey Kealamakia posted another PR in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 1:02.23. Rachel Whipple set a new PR for herself as well with a time of 1:02.72 after setting a new personal best just last week at the Silver State Classic. Mathewson, who had just ran the 100m hurdles not too long ago stepped to the start line and ran her second-fastest mark in the 400m hurdles as well (1:02.27).

Plenty of action remains at both meets for the Women of Utah between finals and events yet to be ran on Saturday at both the Drake Relays and Robison Invitational.
