SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women's tennis team earned a 4-0 sweep for the second time this weekend. On Sunday morning, the Utes defeated Northern Arizona, 4-0, to earn their 11th win of the season.
"This was a great way to finish the weekend getting a win against a gritty team," remarked head coach
Ric Mortera. "Overall, this weekend was a step forward for us in our growth and development. Awesome opportunity for us this week to continue focusing on improving and preparing ourselves for some great matches this coming weekend."

In doubles,
Emily Dush and
Anastasia Goncharova played against the Lumberjack team, Sofia Markova/Ava Neyestani, and defeated them 6-1. Finishing second,
Madison Tattini and
Linda Huang battled it out against Northern Arizona team Annabel Davis/ Gina Dittman and won 6-4, assisting in earning Utah the doubles point.Â

Lindsay Hung and
Katya Hersh's match was left unfinished. They were tied at 6-6 and headed into a tiebreaker.

Clinching the first singles point for the Utes was Goncharova. Playing in fourth singles, she matched up with Ava Neyestani and defeated her 6-3, 6-1, putting Utah ahead 2-0.Â

Following closely behind Goncharova was teammate Tattini. In a challenging first set, Tattini and Annabel Davis traded games, but Tattini was able to win, 7-5. Tattini gained yet another singles point for Utah in her second set, winning 6-2, growing the Utes lead to 3-0.

Dush earned the final singles point Utah needed to win the match against Northern Arizona. Dush matched up with Elinor Beazley in No. 2 singles. Dush won her first set against Beazley 6-1, but in the second, Beazley tied it up 6-6 and sent the set into a 7-point tiebreaker. Dush lost the tiebreaker, 7-3. Going to a third set, Dush wasted no time winning 6-0 and clinching the win for the Utes.

The three other singles matches were left unfinished, but the Utes had won a set on each court.

Utah will play USC in its Pac-12 opener on Friday, March 4, at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1:30 pm MT.
