
Men's Swim Closes Pac-12 Championships with Six Personal Bests

The Utes wrap up four days of competition on Saturday night.
FEDERAL WAY, Wash.- Men's swimming closed out the Pac-12 Championships on Saturday night with another strong showing in the pool recording six new personal-bests and three season-best performances.
Starting off the night in the 1650 free, Dylan Becker finished in 18th in a season-best time of 15:31.16. Jackson Cunningham followed right behind touching in 15:33.01 for 19th as Micah Ginoza (15:46.24) and Nick Becker (15:50.75) rounded out the competing Utes.
Ryan Garstang recorded another personal-best, this time coming in the 200 back where touched in 1:44.81 in the prelims and followed that up with a 1:46.59 for the 18th overall finish. Preston Planells took home 18th in a season-best time of 1:45.68, as McOmber just edged out a new personal-record of 1:46.54 in the prelims and swam even faster in the finals to post a new PR of 1:45.78, good for 20th.
Cunningham also posted a personal-best in the prelims of the 200 back in 1:46.98 and Holden Ellsworth touched in a season-best time of 1:47.85.
Finn O'Haimhirgin earned an NCAA B time and new personal-best in the 100 free, finishing with a time of 43.20 in the prelims. He followed with a 43.13 to better the record he just set in the finals and secured 18th overall.
Jaek Horner, coming off two record setting performances, earned a top-20 finish in the 200-breast touching in an NCAA B cut of 1:57.86 (18th).
Ben Waterman and Marko Kovacic led the Utes in the 200 fly each finishing in the top-20. Waterman took home 17th in 1:45.16 (NCAA B) as Kovacic earned 20th and recorded a new personal-best of 1:46.03 (NCAA B), topping his previous by just over three seconds.
Noah Carlson finished in 1:48.67 and Sam Lucas set a new personal-best of 1:50.70.
In the final event of the night, the Utah 'A' relay team of Andrei Ungur, Horner, Waterman and Carlson finished the 400 free relay in 2:56.18.
