SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah swimming and diving team wrapped up one more day of competition at the CMU Invitational on Saturday, as the meet concluded inside the El Pomar Natatorium in Grand Junction, Colo.
"It was another good night of racing," said assistant coach
Jordan Taylor. "For the most part, everyone was able to swim faster tonight than in the prelims. The standouts would be
Jonathan Michaels, who swam a two-second best time and attacked the 200 back.
Isabella Riso had a great 100 free, going 50.9 and again showed she is one of the strongest freestyle swimmers in Utah. Also, our relays were good again tonight. Everyone was emptying the tank for the team and having a great time doing it!"
Micah Ginoza put forth Utah's first solid showing the day by recording a sixth-place finish in the 1650 free, clocking in at 16:07.11.
Jonathan Michaels took home a victory in the 200 back B final with a time of 1:49.74 and Isabello Riso's efforts in the 100 free put her in sixth with a mark of 50.91.
Kim Lanaghen posted a fourth-place showing in the 200 fly, touching the wall in 2:05.49, then she teamed with
Maile Andresen,
Sofia Carlson and
Kyla Yetter to reach the finish in 20:05.49 in the women's 400 free relay.
Kellen Cameron,
Colin Parker,
Nick Mason and Ginoza placed fourth in the men's 400 free relay in 3:07.85.
