WHAT LYNNE ROBERTS SAID
Opening statement…
"Great atmosphere. I want to start with that. Our marketing department just crushed it. It was fun having all those kids here. My ears are still ringing. They bring the pitch level up an octave that I didn't know existed. It's fun and cool to see all the kids here and cheering on the Utes and hopefully getting a sense of what college can be, and light a fire about wanting to come to the U or anywhere when they graduate high school. It's always a fun day for us, and we appreciate the athletic department's sponsoring and organizing it all because it's a lot of work. It was a good win for us, other than that second quarter, I thought we played really well. We came out and did a good job defensively, then I thought we just kind of got casual and loose and turned it over and didn't defend with the intensity we needed. We had 10 turnovers I think at halftime and finished with just one in the second half so that was good. Defensively, in the second half, they made five field goals. Great job by our players for responding to what we talked about at halftime, and now we move on."
WHAT GIANNA KNEEPKENS SAID
On achieving 1000 career points…
"It's exciting. But I think for me, it's a lot more fun just winning games. I didn't really know how many points I needed or anything like that. My mom surprised me today so there was a little clue that maybe I'd get it today. But it's fun and this team is so fun to play with. Like she [Coach Roberts] said today, I thought we really moved the ball well, and when you get it moving and someone hits a big shot after that makes it a lot of fun."
