BRUSSELS – The Utah cross country alumnae continue shine on the world stage as former All-American Poppy Tank helped Great Britain capture gold in the senior women's race at the 2023 European Cross Country Championships on Sunday at Laeken Park.
"I'd just like to say how proud I am of myself and my teammates for battling through an incredibly tough course," said Tank after the race. "The mud was unreal! I'm delighted to have bettered my result of 13th from last year and I am excited for what's to come in the future."
This was the fourth time in Tank's career she has competed in the European Championships and second-straight year as a member of the senior women's team. Tank was the third Brit to cross the finish line, finishing with a 9000m time of 35:42 for 11th-overall.
Great Britain won with easy in the race, posting 18 points with Spain (37 points), Belgium (38 points) and France (39 points) all separated from one another by one point for second, third and fourth, respectively.
