FIRST QUARTER BREAKDOWN
The Utes took an early 2-0 lead in the game when it was a defensive takeover on the offensive side of the field as long stick Plotts found Cambere open for a goal just 15 seconds in. The Utes followed it up with an unassisted shot and a goal from Andreala with 13:08 on the clock to make it 2-0.
After the Golden Eagles made it a two-point game, Bradbury would score his first goal of the game at the 11:12 mark after beating his defender on a cut, followed by a point from Todd to give the Utes a 4-1 lead with 9:53 to go.
The Utes would hold a 6-2 lead with 5:36 remaining in the quarter on goals from
Ryan Stines and McMahon, but Marquette would score three unanswered to make it a one-point game heading into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER BREAKDOWN
The Golden Eagles put the Utes on their heels to start the second quarter, scoring two straight to take a 7-6 lead with 10:49 on the clock. Utah would answer though with a two-goal swing to make it 8-7 that included Bradbury's second of the game right in front of the crease.
The Utes would make it three in a row after Todd would go on to hit a 15-yarder off a spin move to give Utah a 9-7 advantage with 6:10 remaining in the quarter, eventually taking a 10-7 lead on a goal by
Carson Moyer. Marquette would end its scoring drought with less than two minutes to go in the half, sending the Utes into halftime up 10-8.
THIRD QUARTER BREAKDOWN
Marquette made it a one-point game early in the third quarter, but the Utes would counter with two goals within a minute of each other as Andreala and
Jordan Hyde would find the back of the net with assists from Bradbury and
Zach Chandler for a 12-9 lead with 10:19 on the clock.
The Golden Eagles would keep it close though, going on a 3-0 run to tie things up 12-12 at the 7:08 mark in the quarter. It would be Plotts with the answer for the Utes, faking his defender with a shot to get open and take it to the house for his first goal of the game and a one-point lead for Utah.
It would be Rose's goal with 1:58 left in the third quarter that would send the crowd into a frenzy as the junior produced a diving, behind-the-back shot into the cage for a two-point advantage for the Utes. Utah would then head into the final quarter with a 15-13 lead on a final goal from Andreala after a key ground ball from Brams.
FOURTH QUARTER BREAKDOWN
After taking an early three-point lead in the fourth quarter, Utah nor the Golden Eagles would score again until the 2:07 mark where Andreala would put in his fourth and final goal.
With a three-point lead with under two minutes to go, the Utes got some pressure from Marquette with the Golden Eagles scoring two goals in a span of around 30 seconds, making it a one-point game.
It would once again be Plotts with the answer after
Joey Boylston recorded a key caused turnover on the defensive side of the ball, finding a wide open Plotts with a wide open goal, capitalizing on the moment to secure Utah's 18-16 victory.
