ATLANTA, Ga. – University of Utah Lacrosse faceoff specialist and midfielder
Cole Brams has been named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week after his performance against Detroit Mercy.
Against the Titans, Brams broke his own school record in single-game faceoff wins, coming away with 26 out of 33 attempts (.787) while adding a season-high 15 ground balls, two assists and one goal. His 15 ground balls is the most by a player in the ASUN this season, also ranking second all-time at Utah in single-game ground balls.
It was the second straight game with 10-or-more ground balls, giving him 10 career games in the double-digits. His 269 career ground balls is the third-most by an active player in the ASUN.
This season, Brams ranks second in the ASUN and 20
th nationally in ground balls per game, averaging 7.29. He also ranks fourth in the ASUN and 33
rd nationally in faceoff win percentage (.558).
He is one of just four active players in the country that have 500+ faceoff wins and has the most of any active player in the ASUN. He currently holds school records for career ground balls (269), faceoff wins (507), faceoff attempts (948), faceoff win percentage (.535) and also ranks in the top-10 in caused turnovers.
