Murphy Claims USATF Vertical Mountain Running Championships

Former Utah cross country and track & field All-American Grayson Murphy wins USATF Vertical Mountain Running Championships.
NEWBURY, N.H. – Former Utah cross country and track & field All-American Grayson Murphy came, saw and conquered the USATF Vertical Mountain Running Championships on Saturday at Mt. Sunapee Resort.
Murphy's victory was her first in the state of New Hampshire since winning in 2019. The four-mile course saw nearly 400 competitors climb roughly 1900 feet of elevation throughout the race while also fighting against the up and down terrain. On top of all that, runners were peppered with light rainfall throughout the race as well after running through a cold stream.
The Utah grad crushed the field with a time of 35.47 with the next competitor crossing the finish line at 40:28. Meanwhile, Murphy's time was good for 13th-fastest overall among men and women.

Murphy will hit the course once again on Sunday, April 30, as she looks to claim her third USATF Mountain Running Championships since 2019.
