Andrews recognized for academic and athletic achievements.
SALT LAKE CITY - Grace Andrews has been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large Team on Tuesday. She is the first Ute from the beach volleyball program to earn the honor, which recognizes both athletic and academic achievements during an athlete's career.Â
Andrews will be graduating with an undergraduate degree in criminology in the fall of 2023 as her athletic career as a Ute wrapped up this past spring. Andrews is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree and team captain to lead the Utes. She has also been on the Dean's List throughout her career.
The Boulder, Colo., native has played between the top three courts her entire Utah career, while she primarily played at the No. 2 position the past two seasons. Andrews was a key contributor to the Utah Beach Volleyball program as she was a part of Utah's first-ever Pac-12 regular season win in 2022 against Oregon. Andrews and her partner clinched the win with a three-set victory (21-17, 17-21, 15-12) over Oregon's No. 2 pair. This season, Andrews aided Utah to its first win at the conference championships since 2018 after she earned a key win on court three for Utah's first point of the dual match. Andrews has played the most matches by a Ute in program history.
Recognized for her combined performances on the sand and in the classroom, Andrews will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
