LANGLEY TOWNSHIP, Canada – Former Utah All-American
Simone Plourde took second in the 1500m race on Sunday at the Canadian Track & Field Championships held at McLeod Athletic Park.

Plourde opened the weekend winning her heat in the preliminary race on Saturday with a mark of 4:13.91 – which was good for the second fastest time in the prelims.

The Montreal native then duked it out with Lucia Stafford, who had the fastest time in the prelims, on Sunday for the 1500m crown before Plourde finished in second behind Stafford (4:09.52) with a time of 4:10.36.

Plourde now waits to find out if she will make the Canadian National Team for the upcoming World Championships – which will be announced on Friday, Aug. 4. This year's World Championships is held in
Budapest, Hungary, from Aug. 19-27.
