SAN FRANCISCO – For the second time in the 2023-24 season, two student-athletes have given the University of Utah diving team a sweep of the Pac-12's periodic awards, as
Holly Waxman won the conference's female diver of the week honor and
Elias Petersen was chosen as the league's male diver of the week.
Petersen can add this to a list of the honors that also includes the first two Pac-12 Male Diver of the Month awards of 2023-24. The sophomore from Sweden earned this accolade by taking first in both the 1m and the 3m in Utah's Jan. 5 meet against Colorado Mesa. He bested the field in the former event with a point total of 328.65, followed by a mark of 396.68 in the 3m, both of which surpassed the NCAA Championship qualifying standards.
Waxman also captured one of the conference's diver of the month awards before Tuesday's diver of the week selection. Waxman earned the top spot in both competitions as well when the Utes took on the Mavericks. She recorded a score of 289.95 in the 1m, followed by 312.53 points in the 3m and each score beat the NCAA Championship benchmark.
