IRVING, Texas – The University of Utah swimming and diving program earned their second weekly award in as many weeks after freshman
Callie Eaglestone was announced as the conference's Newcomer of the Week with her performance at the Texas Diving Invitational, the Big 12 released Wednesday.
After the divers' midseason invitational in Austin, Eaglestone was awarded with her first conference weekly award. In her first career invitational, the United Kingdom native earned a place in the 1m final competition, beating out student-athletes from Texas, Stanford, Texas A&M, and TCU for a top-12 finish. The freshman recorded a final score of 290.85 and earned 52 points on her second round, a front 2 ½ pike. She then tallied scores of 276.95 and 187.40 in the 3m springboard and platform events.
Eaglestone's performances contributed 12 points to Utah's overall score, helping push the Utes into a second-place finish with a total of 80 points.
