SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah lacrosse head coach
Andrew McMinn announced the addition of 10 newcomers to the program during the November period, giving the Utes added depth across the board.
The newcomers will be coming to Salt LAX City from all over the country, including New Jersey (2), Florida (3), Colorado (1), California (1), Ohio (1) and two players from Utah. The class includes three players on attack, two on defense, three at midfield, one on attack/faceoffs and a goalkeeper.
These ten are set to join a squad fresh off a 12-5 record and a regular season ASUN title and the ASUN Championship title. Continuing their success in the ASUN Conference, the Utes took home Player of the Year (sophomore
Ryan Stines) and four First-Team All-ASUN selections. In the 2024 season, this crew made it to the first round of the NCAA tournament, the second time in as many years, before falling to Duke, the No. 2 seed.
Anthony Dara :: Pembroke Pines, Fla. :: 6-0 :: Faceoff/Mid
Dara is coming to Utah from Saint Thomas Aquinas HS as a two-time All-County and All-District selection. He was also a member of the first-team All-Region squad. Dara hopes to become a lawyer, and when he's not playing lacrosse, he enjoys fishing and golf. His parents are Viviane and Michael.
Joseph Delmauro :: Westfield, NJ :: 5-10 :: Attack
Delmauro is a three-year varsity lacrosse player at Seton Hall Prep. He has 62 career points in his three years on varsity, earning third-team All-Non Public A. He enjoys snowboarding, surfing and golfing in his free time. His parents are Andrea and John Delmauro and has a 14-year-old sibling named Sam.
Why Utah: "I chose Utah because all of the resources it gives me socially, academically, and the on the field."
Blake Franckowiak :: Draper, Utah :: 5-11 :: Attack
Staying close to home, Franckowiak has made a name for himself in lacrosse. He has accrued first-team all-state and first-team all-region titles and led his team to a state title in 2022. In his career at Corner Canyon High School, Franckowiak totaled 74 goals, 77 assists and 111 groundballs. This Utah attacker(?, attacksman?) comes from a line of beehive state athletes, his father played football at BYU, grandfather played football at Utah and his brother, Max, plays lacrosse at Utah Valley, his other brother, Zack, was a three-time All-Big Ten selection for Rutgers Lacrosse. Franckowiak committed to the Utes in 2022, but deferred to spend time serving a religious mission and will join Utah for the 2026 season.
Why Utah: "I have always wanted to go to Utah. Seeing the program and how successful they have been, has made me want to play and be a part of that winning program. The campus is beautiful and seeing how great the education is, I knew Utah was for me."
Ethan Jaffe :: Denver, Colo. :: 5-10 :: Goalkeeper
Jaffe is a four-year varsity lacrosse player out of Denver South HS with a 60-percent save percentage and marked 203 saves his senior year. Jaffe helped his team to a league championship in 2022. The Denver native was also a U20 Australian Lacrosse squad selection. In high school, Jaffe earned academic honor roll eight times and spent his extra time playing doubles tennis. His parents are Mandy and Justin Jaffe and his sister, Cayla, has committed to diving at the United States Air Force Academy.
Why Utah: "I picked Utah because it felt like a second home. The location and academics, compounded with elite athletics and an amazing team culture made it a no brainer."
Price Jeffris :: Mill Valley, Calif. :: 6-4 :: Midfield
The newest midfielder joining the Utes is a four-time varsity player and two-time varsity captain for Tamalpais HS. Jeffris is a two-time NCS Division 2 champion and enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and football for Tamalpais in the lacrosse off-season. The California native is the son of Dan and, Utah alum, Beth Jeffris.
Why Utah: "I picked Utah due to the size, location, football and lacrosse program."
Ryker Kemp :: Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. :: 6-5 :: Defender
In his junior year at Ponte Vedra High School, Kemp helped his team to a 14-7 record. The Floridian has two brothers who both play lacrosse, Andrew at Townson University and Parker at Lenoir-Ryne University and is the son of Jennipher and Peter Kemp.
Jacob Osborne :: Draper, Utah :: 6-3 :: Attack
The Utah native led his team to a state championship his junior year and earned first-team all-state as a junior at Corner Canyon High School. His sophomore year at Waterford School, Osborne was named first-team all-region after scoring 83 points. The first two years of high school, Osborne played basketball and in his free time he enjoys hiking, playing violin and snowboarding. His father, Peter, played waterpolo and his brother, Michael, plays lacrosse, both at Stanford. He has two other siblings, Scotty and Collin. Osborne commited in 2022, but deferred to serve a religious mission and will be joining the squad for the 2026 season.
Why Utah: "I picked Utah because I will love staying home and being around my family and friends, and second, I plan on serving an LDS Mission for my church, and the coaches were extremely supportive in this decision."
Bryce Roach :: North Canton, Ohio :: 6-2 :: Defense
This 6'2 defensemen is a four-year letter winner from North Canton Hoover HS. Roach is an All-American, a two-time Position Player of the Year, the Forest City Lacrosse League Player of the Year, a two-time All-Region selection, and a first team all-state member. In high school, the Ohioan was a defensive end on the football team and earned All-Ohio honorable mention. His parents are Timothy and Tara Roach.

Luke Shale :: Lake Mary, Fla. :: 6-2 :: Midfield
Shale is coming to Utah as a four-time varsity member for Lake Mary High School's lacrosse team. He is an All-State first-team member and a two-time state champion, spending his extra time playing center back and striker for Lake Mary's soccer team, kicker for their football team and was a member of the golf team. Shale hopes to major in engineering or architecture and has two siblings, Mason, who plays soccer at Lindenwood University, and Harper. He is the son of Todd and Pamela Shale.
Why Utah: "I picked Utah because of the style of play, coaches, and location."
Luke Sheppard :: Demarest, NJ :: 5-9 :: Attack/Mid
Sheppard attended The Taft School where he lettered five years in lacrosse. He played in the Underclass All-American Game as a rising sophomore and is a two-time Founders League Champion. He's scored a career total of nine goals, three were scored in his senior year, and completed 18 assists. As a freshman at Don Bosco Prep, he helped his team to a Gibbs Division Championship and a TOC Championship. On the Taft football team, Sheppard was a receiver/cornerback, where he received his sixth varsity letter. Sheppard is the son of Julie and Robert and has one brother, Cole, who plays baseball at Fullerton College.
Why Utah: "I chose Utah for the amazing atmosphere that the school brings. Utah is somewhere that will give me the support I need to succeed whether on the field or in the classroom. I am so excited to officially become a Ute."
"We are extremely excited about the 10 additions that will make up our class of 2029," said head coach Drew McMinn. "This group will be a great compliment to our established identity of being one of the fastest pace teams in the country. They are all very strong examples of what we look for on and off the field. We are excited to see them all continue their academic and athletic success throughout their senior year, and we can't wait to have them suited up in Utah colors next Fall!"
