COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Holly Waxman and
Kathryn Grant finished at the top of the preliminary leaderboard for the University of Utah women's diving team on the final day of the Air Force Diving Invitational, which concluded on Saturday inside the Cadet Natatorium.
"Holly and Kat placed 1-2 on platform in prelims," said assistant diving coach
Gabrielle Logozzo. "They opted out of finals to give others a chance of getting their zones score. The real star of the day was Sydney getting her zones score on platform. She showed incredible resiliency in both of her events and we couldn't be happier!"
Despite this only being the third chance the Utes have had to participate in a platform competition so far in 2023-24, they were razor sharp, with Waxman posting a score of 257.15, nearly 10 more points than the next closest competitor.
Grant finished with a score of 247.20, her highest on the platform during the current campaign, putting her right behind Waxman in second.
Sydney Kowalski also put forth a strong showing, piling up 175.80 points, which earned her a 19th-place finish and her scores also qualified her to dive at the NCAA Zone E Championships in March.

The next competition on the docket for the Utes comes on Feb. 9 and 10, when they'll travel to Provo, Utah to visit BYU.
