ATLANTA – Sophomore scorer
Ryan Stines has been named this week's ASUN Player of the Week for his performance in Utah Lacrosse's comeback victory at Bellarmine on Saturday to open conference play.
Stines, who also earned one player of the week nod in 2023 as a freshman, tied his career-high in goals with five, scoring the game winning and 14
th goal to beat the Knights on the road. Over the last three games, Stines has averaged 4.0 goals and is averaging 2.83 overall, which ranks first in the ASUN and 25
th in the NCAA.
The Cary, N.C., native found the back of the net once in the second quarter, scoring his other four goals in the fourth. Stines put one in with 12:18 to play in the game to cut the Bellarmine lead to 12-9, going on to score back-to-back goals at the 7:10 and 6:19 mark to tie the game 12-12.
With just 2.8 seconds left in the game and the scored tied 13-13, Stines took on the Knights one-on-one, drilling one in the cage to secure the 14-13 road win.
He has scored two-or-more goals in four of Utah's six games this season, and also has 15 career games with multiple goals.
