Utah Lacrosse Moves Past Mercer, 20-9

MACON, Ga. – For the second time in three days, the University of Utah Lacrosse team claimed a road win, moving past the Mercer Bears on Friday night, 20-9. Utah improved to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in ASUN play with two regular season games to go.
Utah's 20 points against the Bears marked the third time this season the Utes have reached 20 points or more. It was also the fourth time in the last five games Utah has scored 15+ goals.
The Utes finished the game with 54 total shots, including 34 on goal, only committing nine turnovers compared to Mercer's 14. Of Mercer's 14 turnovers, Utah caused eight with the Utes also winning 17 of the 33 faceoffs in the game.
GAME LEADERS
The Utes were led in total points by both senior Jared Andreala and sophomore Ryan Stines with Andreala scoring five goals and Stines scoring four with one assist. Senior Carson Moyer also put up four points on a goal and team-high three assists with seniors Jordan Hyde and Tyler Bradbury, and redshirt freshman Bryce Horton scoring two goals each.
On faceoffs, sophomore Tyler Kloeckl won 15-of-30, setting a new career-high with true freshman Spencer Krueger also going 2-of-3.
Sophomore Nikko DiPonio recorded a team-high eight ground balls and two caused turnovers with Horton also adding two ground balls and two caused turnovers to his stat line. Joey Boylston added to Utah's defensive performance with two ground balls and a caused turnover while Freddie DiMarzo, Mikey Crane and Ben Trask all rounded out the CTO list with one each.
In goal, Colin Lenskold held the Bears to eight goals during his time in the game with eight saves while Connor Hollison recorded a save late in the fourth quarter.
